Álvaro Lozano Cames

Acclaimed by ABC newspaper for his “impetus, technical perfection, extraordinary sound, punch, musicality, intention”, Álvaro Lozano Cames began playing the cello at the age of 8, with Professors Carmen María Elena González and Sabrina Rui. From 2020 to 2023, he also received improvement classes from Professor Pavel Gomziakov at the Academy of Orchestral Studies of Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville. Since 2023 he is student of Professor Jens Peter Maintz and Fernando Arias at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, supported by scholarships from Grupo Planeta and Fundación Albéniz. He plays a Garavaglia cello provided by the Fundación Albéniz. He has participated in masterclasses with distinguished cellists such as Frans Helmerson, Ivan Monighetti, Wolfgang Emmanuel Schmidt, Asier Polo, Mischa Maisky, Pablo Ferrández and Steven Isserlis. He received a scholarship from the Internationale Musikakademie in Liechtenstein and took part in the intensive music activities held there.
