Romanian pianist Daniel Dascălu (b. 1991) has performed solo recitals in Bucharest, Iași, Brașov, Cluj, Constanța, Sibiu and played as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestras of Craiova, Bacău, Botoșani, as well as at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, alongside the Concerto Orchestra of the National University of Music in Bucharest. Internationally he has performed in several European cities, most notably in Vienna (Arnold Schönberg Center, the Gesellschaft für Musiktheater, and the University of Music and Performing Arts), Salzburg (Mozarteum University), Munich (Philharmonie am Gasteig), in Dresden, Brescia, and Split.
Passionate about chamber music, Daniel Dascălu has played in chamber ensembles at the Romanian Athenaeum and the Suțu Palace in Bucharest, and also in Iași, at the Classix Festival, as well as in Sweden, at the Aurora Music Festival in Mariestad, and in Greece, at the International Kalamata Music Days.
In 2022, he was invited as a collaborative pianist at the George Enescu International Competition and since the same year has been invited at the annual Crescendo Summer Institute in Tokaj, Hungary. Also, as part of the PerformArt project of the National University of Music in Bucharest, he gave piano masterclasses in several music schools and high schools in Romania.
Daniel Dascălu is alumnus of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he studied with Martin Hughes and Stefan Mendl. Previously, he had also completed Bachelor and Master studies at the National University of Music in Bucharest with professor Dana Borșan, under the guidance of which, in February 2021, he obtained a Doctor of Music degree. In 2022, he completed postgraduate studies in chamber music with Stefan Mendl at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He has also worked with renowned pianists like Klaus Hellwig, Peter Donohoe, Henri Sigfridsson, Roberto Plano, Andreas Frölich. Since 2021, he is an associate professor at the National University of Music in Bucharest.
