Gabriel Gîțan

The pianist Gabriel Gîțan (b. 1996) received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the National University of Music in Bucharest, where he benefited from the guidance of Professors Viniciu Moroianu, Verona Maier, Steluța Radu and Cristina Popescu-Stănești. During his studies, he participated in numerous national and international competitions and won several prizes. He also received the UNMB Excellence Scholarship for significant artistic achievements twice, in 2018 and 2021. He currently works as an accompanist at the Romanian National Opera and the Secondary Arts School No. 2 in Bucharest.
He has given recitals on important stages, both as a soloist and with chamber music partners. As a result of the first prize, he won at the Hungarian Music Festival in 2018, he collaborated with the Hungarian Cultural Institutes and performed on stages in Paris, London and Bucharest. At the invitation of the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, he played in the Lunchtime Recitals Series of St. Martin-in-the-Fields and St. James’s Piccadilly. Together with violinist Valentin Șerban, he performed at the Enescu Festival in Cluj-Napoca and Sibiu and at the Musica Barcensis Festival. The two also made special recordings at the Radio Hall in Bucharest. He also recorded there with cellists Cornelius Zirbo and Ștefan Cazacu and with soprano Aida Pascu, with whom he gave recitals this year in Lithuania (Ilzenberg Manor) and Romania (Cotroceni National Museum in Bucharest).
He has performed in chamber concerts in Bucharest at the Romanian Athenaeum, Radio Hall, Romanian Youth Palace, Dinu Lipatti Arts House and the Suțu Palace as well as in Enescu and World Music Festival in Sinaia and Mogoșoaia ClasicFest. From 2022 he performs as a member of Traffic Strings ensemble, and from 2023 as a member of the Bucharest Metropolitan Orchestra. He was the official accompanist of the Violin and Cello sections of the George Enescu International Competition, 2020 and 2022 editions.
