Jinyoung Yoon

SOUTH KOREA

Jinyoung Yoon was born in 1998 in South Korea. She started playing the violin at the age of 5 and attended Yewon Middle School of Music in Seoul. While studying with Joseph Kim and Boksu Kim, she won the Grand prize at the Music Education Newspaper Competition and the 1st prize at the Baroque Music Competition in Korea. In 2010, she was selected for the Kumho Prodigy recital series. She has performed with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Myung-Whun Chung.
In 2012, she was accepted into the Juilliard Pre-College Programme, where she won the Pre-College Assemble Competition. She attended the Yellow Barn Summer Festival, the Great Mountains International Music Festival, the Sejong International Music Festival and the Heifetz International Music Institute for the Ashkenasi/Kirshbaum programme.
She participated in masterclasses with Donald Weilerstein, Augustin Hadelich, Mihaela Martin and Benjamin Schmid. She entered the Curtis Institute of Music in 2016, studying with Aaron Rosand and Midori Gotō. Currently, she is in a master’s programme at the same institution, under Ida Kavafian.
