George Enescu International Competition has ended

The 2024 George Enescu International Competition, organized under the High Patronage of the President of Romania and funded by the Ministry of Culture, has come to an end. This year’s competition brought together remarkable talents from around the world, with winners in each section showcasing their abilities and creativity before a prestigious international jury.


Composition Section: Awards and Laureates 🎼

In this section of the 2024 George Enescu International Competition, young composers impressed the jury with innovative and original works. The winners of the Composition section are:

  • Chamber Music Award: Daniele Di Virgilio for SINE Me-moria.
  • Symphonic Music Award: Voltz Alexander for DUNROSSIL ELMS.
  • Originality Award: Santamaria Diego for THE STONE AND THE IVY.

Cello Section: Awards and Laureates 🎻

The Cello section’s final brought together three exceptional musicians. Here are the winners:

  • First Prize: Yo Kitamura
  • Second Prize: Ettore Pagano
  • Third Prize: Hadon Kay

Special Awards:

  • Audience Award: Ettore Pagano
  • “Serafim Antropov” Award: Ettore Pagano for the best interpretation of Sonata No. 2 in C Major by George Enescu
  • Award for the Imposed Piece: Yo Kitamura for Syntrimma, composed by Sebastian Androne-Nakanishi

Violin Section: Awards and Laureates 🎻

The Violin section brought moments of intense emotion, with the following laureates:

  • First Prize: Mayumi Kanagawa
  • Second Prize: Hyeonjeong Lee
  • Third Prize: Wakana Kimura

Special Awards:

  • Audience Award: Hyeonjeong Lee
  • “Ștefan and Valentin Gheorghiu” Award: Mayumi Kanagawa for the best interpretation of a Sonata by George Enescu
  • Award for the Imposed Piece: Hyeonjeong Lee for B.A.C.H., Passacaglia for Solo Violin, composed by Vlad Maistorovici
