Jean-Baptiste Maizières

Jean-Baptiste Maizières studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Marc Coppey and Jérôme Pernoo. He continued his studies at Haute école de musique de Lausanne with François Salque. At the age of 17 he made his debut as a soloist on Radio Classique during the closing concert of the Easter Festival in Aix-en-Provence. In October 2023 he won 2nd prize at the International Musical Competition of the Società Umanitaria, in Milan. In 2022 he was a quarter-finalist at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, and in 2024, a semi-finalist at the Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition in Warsaw. He has performed as a soloist at numerous festivals worldwide, including the Cello Biënnale in Amsterdam, the Supercello Festival in Beijing and the Kronberg Festival. He has received guidance from renowned cellists such as Gautier Capuçon, Daniel Müller-Schott, Frans Helmerson, David Geringas and Jens-Peter Maintz.
