Jan Sekaci

Jan Sekaci started playing the cello at the age of 10 in his home town of Oradea at the High School of Arts. Between 2015 and 2020 he studied with Octavian Lup at the National College of Arts Dinu Lipatti in Bucharest. For three years in a row he participated in the Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle of Gautier Capuçon and since 2020 he studies at the Barenboim-Said Akademie Berlin with Frans Helmerson.
In 2018 Jan Sekaci was selected as an active participant in the Kronberg Academy Masterclasses, where he studied with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt. He has won numerous prizes at national and international competitions: 1st prize at the International Klaipėda Cello Competition in Lithuania, 1st prize at the ProArt International Cello Competition in Khmelnitsky, Ukraine, and 1st prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria.
