Cécile Vonderwahl

SWITZERLAND
June 29, 1998

Cécile Vonderwahl received her first violin lessons at the age of 6 and later studied with Eiko Furusawa and Zakhar Bron. She did her junior studies at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste with Andreas Janke and received her Bachelor’s degree with honours. This was followed by further studies at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg in the class of Pierre Amoyal and at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Stephan Picard.
She completed an internship at the Musikkollegium Winterthur and became a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. As a scholarship holder of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, she played regularly at the Berliner Philharmonie as part of a two-year orchestral academy.
Temporary engagements with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Berliner Philharmoniker complement her orchestral activities. For many years she has received various scholarships in Switzerland. Recently she has been playing on a 1794 Lorenzo Storioni Antonievitch violin, generously provided by a private individual.
