Maya Wichert was born in 2006 and is currently in her final year at the Gymnasium Gröbenzell. She started playing the violin at the age of 4 and has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München since the age of 9. She is currently in the class of Professor Lena Neudauer. She also attends the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover in the class of Professor Krzysztof Węgrzyn.
As a soloist she has performed with orchestras such as the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim, the Ulmer Philharmonie, the Jenaer Philharmonie, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein, the Baden-Badener Philharmonie, the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester and the Münchener Kammerorchester.
Maya Wichert has won numerous prizes at international violin competitions and is the winner of the Discovery Award at the 2021 International Classical Music Awards. As a fellow of the German Stiftung Musikleben, she currently plays on an 18th-century violin by the Neapolitan master Nicolò Gagliano, which is owned by the Federal Republic of Germany.
