Jiayi Liu

Born in 2002, Jiayi Liu received her first cello lesson at the age of 10. At the age of 13, she made her debut at the Qingdao Concert Hall performing Haydn’s Concerto in C major. Until today, she has given numerous solo recitals and ensemble performances in renowned concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Shanghai Symphony Hall, the Shanghai Concert Hall and the Jordan Hall of the New England Conservatory, to name but a few.
A winner of numerous international competitions, she was recently awarded the Young Musician Award of the 2022 Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann. In October 2022, she also won the 3rd prize, Prix Amis de la BCS, at the Buchet International Cello Competition, as well as the 1st prize and the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra Award at the Antonio Janigro Junior Cello Competition in Croatia.
She is currently studying at the Musik-Akademie Basel with Professor Danjulo Ishizaka. Jiayi Liu plays on a Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi cello, privately sponsored.
