Dong Nyouk Kim

Dong Nyouk Kim is an acclaimed cellist who has gained national and international recognition, winning top prizes at prestigious competitions such as the Music Association of Korea Competition, the Liezen International Cello Competition and the Togliatti International Competition for Young Performers in Russia.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Colburn Orchestra, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra and Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has participated in masterclasses with Peter Bruns, Peter Wiley, Marc Coppey, Gary Hoffman, Arto Noras and Alban Gerhardt.
Born and raised in Daegu, Korea, Dong Nyouk Kim studied at the Colburn Conservatory of Music with Ronald Leonard, Hans Jørgen Jensen and Clive Greensmith. After serving as principal cellist of the North Carolina Symphony, he moved to Berlin to pursue advanced studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler under the tutelage of Claudius Popp.
