Praised for his “playing with finesse and precision” (New York Concert Review), cellist Hun Choi made his debut in the United States as a soloist with the Penn Symphony Orchestra under Thomas Hong, performing Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme in 2022.
Hun Choi has performed solo and chamber music recitals at many prestigious venues, including the 92nd Street Y in New York, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, the New England Conservatory Jordan Hall in Boston, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, the Kumho Art Hall and the Daejeon Arts Center in South Korea. As a soloist, he has performed with the PyeongChang Music Festival Orchestra, the Namyangju Symphony Orchestra and the Yewon Orchestra.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Hun Choi received his bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he continues to study for his master’s degree with Peter Wiley and Gary Hoffman.
